Final tally on the 6th ballot, Barr 324, Ruwart 276. Just to rub it in, pro-war neocon Wayne Allyn Root got veep.

As I said before, a bad day for the Libertarian Party, a good day for Obama. If nothing else the Barr factor plus the African American factor gives us an excellent chance of turning Georgia blue.

As I penned to my friends in the Tennessee chapter this morning…

Let me be the first Obama supporter to thank the LP for tossing aside its last vestiges of principle in order to help us defeat McCain … I know it was a difficult decision, but it was the right thing to do.

By refusing to burden us with the difficult decision between Obama and a principled libertarian, you’ve cleared the path for hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of left-libertarians and libertarian-leaning / “liberaltarian” Democrats to vote for Obama with a clear conscience, knowing that for once the major party candidate is the least of not two, but three evils.

And shame on the Tennessee delegation, what were you thinking, voting 10 to 4 against handing the party machinery over to the same people that decimated the Reform Party with the Buchanan campaign?! Progress takes sacrifice, people! You have to be willing to destroy the LP to get liberty. Or something like that.

Oh, and, of course, War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Knowledge, yada yada yada.
